likeness of a raven SKULL

Each of these viking amulets is sculpted in the likeness of a raven. Ravens are among the most intelligent creatures on earth. They are in fact famous for this trait throughout the nine realms, which is why Odin, the Allfather, craftiest of the Aesir Gods, always keeps two by his side. Huginn (free thought) and Muninn (memory) serve as Odin’s eyes and ears, regarding all horizons with precision and scrutiny. Every morning he sends them to gather new knowledge from every realm, and each evening they return.

The Raven is a symbol of wisdom and intelligence. It is associated with Odin, the god of war, poetry, magic, death, and prophecy. In Norse mythology, Hugin and Munin were ravens who flew around Asgard, the home of the gods, gathering information about events happening across the Nine Realms. It is said that when the gods created man, they gave him the ability to think, but not the power to act. This is because the gods were afraid that if man had the power to think, he would use it against them. So they made the Raven, who could think without acting.

Beautiful Design.

Be in Awe

Origin of the Helm of Awe

Inscribed on the fore of this raven skull is the eight armed symbol of might and victory; the Helm of Awe. First used by the greedy Svartalf (dwarf), Fafnir, whenever he wore his Helm of Awe, not even the gods would challenge him to steal his hoard of gold. Ironically, it was not until his greed eventually transformed Fafnir into a dragon, and the helm could not fit his head, that he became vulnerable.

Helm of Awe in the Mortal Realm

After Sigurd, a mighty king of humans slew the beast, he discovered the power of the helm, and instructed his men to paint its magical symbol upon their foreheads in lead, so that all who opposed them would know fear and awe more powerful than even a dragon. Unrivalled confidence and fearsome power is projected by any bearer of this mark, so wear it well, champion!
