The vegvisir symbol is a popular Icelandic stave that’s said to bring its bearer guidance and protection on their journey. The vegvisir, also known as “the Viking or Nordic compass”, appears in the Huld Manuscript which dates back to the late 1700s. It is a very meaningful symbol to many and it’s believed to represent strength and direction in life. Some people even place vegvisirs around their homes as a sign of protection. It consists of eight runes that form a circle connected by several smaller lines and it serves as a reminder that we all carry an internal compass – our own guiding star – within us which will lead us through life’s challenges.
